Dinner: Chicken rice prep

Decided to prepare chicken rice today, seeing that there's half a chicken in the refrigerator and I've still got a box of Prima taste's Hainanese chcickenrice. Wonder if Eli will like it or not. Here goes...

Had to keep Eli occupied while I cook. So yeah, I'm guilty of providing him with YouTube.
Contrary to mainstream believe, I think YouTube can be quite educational. But yeah, it can be bad of the eyes. I'm Trying! :D
Quick check on the expiry date and it's good for another 10 months.
Says on the box a whole chicken is required. But all I've got is a half.
Comes with pretty easy to follow instructions. Like a quick start guide to setting up an IT appliance.
Chicken's being simmered in the premixed chickenrice stock as I'm uploading this.
Part II - The process

I've got to admit. I read the part of the instruction thrice, where it says "place Chicken into Ice water". Maybe you'll find it's pretty normal. But for someone like me who has only 1 month of real cooking experience, I find it surprising. I've heard of putting noodles into cold water. But Chicken into Ice water. This is a first.
Frosty Chicken beverage anyone?
Chicken stock looks legit with the oil beads on the surface.
Rice + Stock
Everything looks set. Time to stop the YouTubeR.

Finale - Dinner is served

Chicken looks a tad pinkish due to the soy sauce.
